SWOH Legacy
Sovereign Wings of Hope (SWOH) has been ministering in Eastern Uganda for over 40 years! Join with us in the story of God’s grace and compassion in Eastern Uganda. SWOH Legacy is a multi-year capital campaign to lay the groundwork for the next 100 years of ministry. This multi-million capital campaign plans to invest in the long term stability and effectiveness of our school ministry for 700 children, hospice ministry for over 620, and community development for tens of thousands across eastern Uganda.
SWOH Legacy is the most ambitious campaign SWOH has ever undertaken. We want to continue to impact the lives of thousands of people in Eastern Uganda for many years to come.
Current Phase
Phase 2: Dwell in the Land 2022-2023
Wings of Hope Christian Primary School (WOHCPS) started with just a roof on unclaimed land. Throughout their school day, hundreds of poverty stricken kids would switch back and forth between shade underneath trees and that one roof. Now we work with 24 staff to serve over 700 children—200 of which have lost one or both of their parents. We now lease several acres of the aforementioned unclaimed land and have erected multiple buildings and classrooms.
Over 15 years ago, SWOH began caring for 10 patients a month, and their family members. Now we are at 620 patients, visiting them and their family members across a 120 mile radius in eastern Uganda.
Dwell in the Land 2022-2023 will began building a permanent school facility on the school campus starting with half the classrooms for lower grades and purchase a replacement vehicle for Hospice Tororo. By purchasing a replacement hospice vehicle, we will enable the hospice staff to resume visiting patients in their homes. Our hope is to sustain our present and build our future by recruiting and training volunteers to Dwell in the Land. Our need to create greater support structures in the US became apparent, therefore we are developing a full time operations team to propel our Ugandan efforts.
Phase 1: Possess the Land 2020-2021 COMPLETE! Purchased the land for WOHCPS. Developed telehealth program to maintain vital hospice care to cancer and HIV AIDS patients during pandemic and added 30 hospice patients. Successfully launched 2022 school year for 300 returning students and increased to over 750 in the first quarter.
Phase 2: Dwell in the Land 2022-2023. Continue building a permanent school facility on the school campus starting with half the classrooms for lower grades, purchasing a new vehicle for Hospice Tororo, develop a staff team in the US to support and propel our Ugandan efforts.
Phase 3: Build the Temple 2023-2024. Build a chapel, conference center, clinic, and the second half of classrooms for the lower grades. Update the girls orphan dormitories.
Phase 4: Extend God’s Love 2024-2025. Build classrooms for the upper grades. Build a dining hall, kitchen on the school, including science labs, on the school campus. Update the boys orphan dormitories.
Phase 5: Compassion Transforms Lives 2025. Finish up any remaining work on the school facilities. Invest in Hospice Tororo by creating the International Hospice Tororo Coalition to provide necessary long term financial support for the hospice care in eastern Uganda. Hire full time staff for Hospice Tororo.
